HABITAT DEDICATES HOUSE #20
Honesdale, PA – Habitat for Humanity of Wayne County gave ‘welcome’ a whole new meaning as they welcomed another family into their home earlier this month.
After much hard work, sweat, and devotion, the dedication took place on Sunday, October 2nd in the new home. Habitat for Humanity of Wayne County’s President, Mark Graziadio, welcomed everyone to the dedication and stated, “This really shows you what can happen when people come together, have a common focus, and truly care about and want to help people in their community.”
Richard and Michelle Dugan have started their move into their new home with their daughter. Michelle took time during the dedication to thank Habitat for giving their family this opportunity. They pledged to remain active with the organization in the future. Board Members, volunteers, friends, and members of the Dugan family were also in attendance.
The family was presented with a Bible and quilt from St. John’s Lutheran Church, an American flag, mailbox and voter registration form, and a homeowners’ manual. Lastly, the family was presented with the keys to their new home by Connie Petraitis, Habitat Board Member.
Many volunteers put in countless hours to make these homes possible for residents of the Wayne County community. Annual fundraisers and events are held throughout the year to raise funds for the builds, including a giant yard sale in June, a 5K in August, and a dinner in February which is coming up on February 17, 2017 at Silver Birches on Lake Wallenpaupack. You can find out more about local fundraising events on their website - www.hfhwcpa.org or by visiting their Facebook page - Wayne County PA Habitat for Humanity.
Habitat for Humanity of Wayne County is in its 26th year of providing a decent house in a decent community for God’s people in need. Their work allows partner families to purchase the constructed or refurbished homes, financed by a 0% mortgage from Habitat. As they look forward to future projects, volunteers are welcomed.
