Board Members, partner families, and volunteers gathered at 18 Elizabeth Street in White Mills on Sunday, July 14 for the groundbreaking of Wayne County Habitat for Humanity’s 22nd home.
On Thursday, July 25th, the Superior Walls foundation was set for Wayne County Habitat for Humanity’s Home #22 in White Mills. Volunteer work crews, under the direction of Clyde Kreider, will begin constructing the new 2-story home, scheduled for completion in 2020.
August 9, 2019 Update - A crew of 14 volunteers made quick work of attaching the sill plate, inserting the center beam, installing the floor drain, and bracing the foundation. It's now ready for the pouring of the basement floor and backfilling around the foundation.
August 13, 2019 Update - The decking project began today, but the weather haulted progress before it could be finished.
August 19, 2019 Update - The decking is completed and two of the first floor walls are up. (And they stayed up through the severe weekend storms!)
August 21, 2019 Update - The fourth wall of the first floor was completed yesterday. Next up are interior first floor walls and support beams for the second floor.
September 10, 2019 Update - The second floor walls are in place!
October 1, 2019 Update - We are under roof!
October 7, 2019 Update - A group of 21 employees and family members of Lockheed Martin, in Archbald, volunteered to work on the project. The Damascus United Methodist Church provided lunch for everyone.
November 25, 2019 Update - The upstairs bedrooms, closets, and stairwells are sheet rocked. The rough plumbing and wiring has been installed. Electricity has been serviced from the pole to the home. Some breakers have been installed for interior outlets and the line for the sewer grinder pump. Siding has been placed on the east and west sides and more than have of the southern side. The sewer line has been run to the stake where the grinder pump will be installed. The lot has been graded and the driveway has been filled/compacted with stone.
