HABITAT FOR HUMANITY HOLDS ANNUAL 5K
Honesdale, PA – Habitat for Humanity of Wayne County held their annual “Run for the Roses,” 25th Annual 5K Run/Walk, on the rainy morning of Saturday, August 28, 2021. Participants ran to show their support for the work the local Habitat for Humanity does throughout the county.
The race and male overall winner was Aidan Latourette, 16, of Beach Lake, PA, with a time of 17:55.40. Brenna Dahlgren, 15, was the female overall winner with a time of 20:27.90. Trophies and roses were awarded to the first place overall male and female finishers, with medals presented to the top age group finishers.
Habitat President, Mike Rollison, blew the starter’s whistle at 9:00am to get the race started at the Honesdale High School Track Complex and took racers over the 5-kilometer (3.1 miles) course finishing back at the High School Track Complex. The course was redesigned by Diane Scarfalloto for the race in 2019.

Habitat would like to thank Wayne Highlands School District for use of facilities and sound system, Commonwealth Health for the on-site ambulance, Honesdale Greenhouse for the flowers for male and female winners, WIL-TIME Event Management for the timing and results, J&C Awards for the trophies and medals, Home Depot for the water and hand sanitizer, The Honesdale National Bank for advertising, local businesses (featured on the back of the race shirts) for their donations, and the many volunteers who offered their time to make this race happen. The Wayne County Commissioners generously donated $1,000 again this year, and ReMax Wayne also made a financial donation, along with offering roadside advertisement for the race.
